MML Responds to covid-19
In these unprecedented times, MML is redoubling our efforts to include critical media literacy in K-12 classrooms. We understand and respect how difficult it is to prepare robust remote learning plans. Simultaneously, we empathize with the sheer onslaught of mediated information in the face of the virus. If you are interested in classroom activities to support your students’ news and information analysis specifically about the global pandemic, please let us know.
MML Supports #BLM
As part of our work in critical media literacy, MML recognizes and supports the invaluable work of the #BLM movement. If you are interested in bringing socially just, action-oriented work focused on race, gender, ability, or class to your classroom, please let us know. MML also recognizes that we need to work to diversify the field of media literacy; if you are interested in getting involved and joining us in this work, please let us know.
mass media literacy offers professional development points for education
Mass Media Literacy is certified by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to offer Professional Development Points (PDPs) for the critical media literacy training that we offer.
We are currently working to be certified in New Hampshire, Vermont, and California.
If you or your school district is interested in critical media literacy training AND would like PDPs, please let us know and we will work to get certified in your state
What does this mean?
We offer professional training, along with customized curriculum for use in the classroom, to any PreK-12 educator who would like to incorporate media literacy lessons in their instruction.
Educators or administrators who need to earn PDPs now have the option of signing up for media literacy training. Our 10 hours of Professional Development includes assessments, ready-made curriculum, and the opportunity to co-develop lesson plans.
